Taylor Wiseman & Taylor was selected for design services to repair the boat ramp at the Spicers Creek boat access in Lower Township, Cape May, New Jersey. The existing ramp was in disrepair, having been constructed of Articulated Concrete Blocks that had become undermined and no longer provided a usable surface. The new ramp was constructed of reinforced concrete with one-inch deep V-tooled traction grooves. The base of the ramp now features a rolled curb thrust deflector to both mark the limit of the ramp and to re-direct propeller thrust from boaters who power-load their boats onto their trailer. With a water depth of three feet at Mean Low Water at the base of the ramp, loading and unloading can occur during most tidal conditions.
The free ramp is very popular among recreational boaters and is also the ramp of choice by the US Coast Guard where they launch their rigid hull inflatable boat for patrols of the ocean, Cape May-Delaware Canal and Delaware Bay.
