Taylor Wiseman & Taylor (TWT) was selected to provide design and permitting services for Phase II of the levee reconstruction. The project area is approximately 4,000 linear feet long on New Jersey’s Delaware River shoreline.
The existing unprotected levee will be improved to the current published guidelines of the US Army Corp of Engineers. The existing elevation of the levee, with an approximate elevation of 7.0 feet, will be raised to an elevation of 12.0 feet to account for approximately one foot of settlement. The top of the levee will have a minimum 15-foot-wide crest. The levee will be protected (armored) for a 100-year storm event from the Delaware River, as well as for overtopping for a 500-year flood elevation.
In addition to the design scope, TWT provided an aerial topographic survey of the project site, along with selected field elevations to provide base mapping. TWT prepared the applications and supporting information for obtaining the following permits:
Final construction plans, specifications and related bidding documents were also prepared along with providing construction management services.
