Taylor Wiseman & Taylor (TWT) was engaged by the New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) to supplement the State’s forces by providing, on an “as-needed” basis, various professional survey services at any stage or phase of development of a transportation project from planning through final design and construction. TWT has been selected, on a continuing basis, for over 15 (15) years and through multiple agreements, to provide these services. The range of services has included individual property surveys, re-establishment of original highway baselines and right-of-way lines (ROW), topographic surveys, as-built bridge surveys, and performing the surveys and documentation necessary to set high-order geodetic control for the State of NJ.
On a typical project completed under this Agreement, TWT performed detail control and topographic, as well as the field and office services necessary, to re-establish the baseline and ROW lines for over 20 miles of US Route 9 in Monmouth and Middlesex Counties. Low-altitude aerial mapping, controlled by high-order horizontal (GPS) and vertical (digital leveling), was utilized to provide superior accuracy digital planimetric mapping and digital terrain model (DTM). All surveying operations were conducted in such a manner as to minimize exposure to and interference with vehicular traffic. This project was submitted ahead of schedule and within budget. TWT has received, on a continuing basis, a Consultant Evaluation of “Outstanding” from the NJDOT for the subject agreement(s).
