Heislerville Wildlife Management Area

The Heislerville Wildlife Management Area, consisting of over 6,000 acres of habitat in Cumberland County, is located near the mouth of the Maurice River, one of two major tributaries in southern New Jersey that enter the Delaware Bay. This was a cooperative wetlands restoration project planned under the Delaware Bay initiative with the NJDEP, Division of Fish & Wildlife providing long-term management of the impoundments and necessary stewardship to make the Heislerville Wildlife Management Wetland Restoration a successful mission.

The design elements for this project included the following:

  • Construction of a crabbing pier with nonflammable decking material.
  • Viewing trails that consist of a surface over wet areas.
  • Wildlife observation platforms that integrate vandal resistant components.
  • Parking areas that provide several access points around the Wildlife Management Area.

All construction was compliant with current ADA requirements NJ UCC Barrier Free regulations.
