Beach Fill MEC Project

During beach replenishment operations in the Winter of 2006-2007, dredge materials were placed in the beach area of Ship Bottom and Surf City, NJ. It was subsequently discovered that unexploded ordinance (UXO) had been deposited in these beach areas during the dredging operation.

Under the direction of the client and the USACOE, Taylor Wiseman & Taylor was retained to provide Horizontal Control, establish a search grid for identification of affected areas, perform existing features locations, including plan preparation, and performed QA/QC locations of discovered UXO. Complete mobilization to the project was accomplished within two days of notice to proceed. We coordinated our efforts with all of the involved entities and completed the Munitions and Explosive of Concern (MEC) project within the exacting time and budget constraints.
