TWT PRESENTS BLAKESLEE BOULEVARD (SR 0443) IMPROVEMENT PROJECT TO LOCAL OFFICIALS AND PUBLIC IN CARBON COUNTY, PA
Project Manager Joseph Digirolamo, and Deputy Project Manager Wayne Howitz presented TWT’s SR 0443 Improvement Project in Lehighton Borough, Carbon County, PA on Wednesday, July 20, 2016. The TWT team conducted two meetings, one for public officials and one for the general public. The meetings effectively ended the preliminary design phase of the project.
The project, which is approximately 2.2 miles long, includes construction of a new bridge on South Ninth Street, major rehabilitation of the SR 0443 bridge over Mahoning Creek, installation of four new signalized intersections, provision of a center lane two-way left-turn lane to facilitate access to numerous commercial properties, guiderail and other safety improvements, improved drainage, improved access management and new pavement. The current construction budget is approximately $18M, and construction is expected to start in the fall of 2018. TWT expects to begin final design of improvements in the fall of 2016. This project was our first contract awarded as a prime with the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, Engineering District 5-0.
